What to Expect

After the summons arrives.

  1. I
Within 24 hours, you'll receive a personal reply — not a form letter — acknowledging the summons and proposing a time to talk.
  2. II
The first conversation is free, 30–45 minutes, and non-pushy. We figure out whether the project is a fit before anyone commits to anything.
  3. III
If it's a fit, a site visit follows — also free for KC-area projects. You receive a written proposal within a week.
  4. IV
If it's not, you'll get an honest referral to someone who can help. We don't take projects we can't do well.

Common Questions

Before you summon.

30–45 minutes by phone or video, scheduled at your convenience. We discuss the home, what you want from it, what's already installed, and what's realistic given your budget. There's no obligation, no high-pressure pitch, and no upsell. If we're not the right fit, you'll know in the first ten minutes — and you'll get a referral.

The primary service area is Greater Kansas City Metro — including Johnson County, Wyandotte County, Jackson County, Cass County, and Clay County. For projects outside KC, we provide design, specification, and remote commissioning through a national network of vetted installers. New construction whole-home specs are available nationwide.

Almost certainly not. Most homes start with two or three. The ten domains are a complete framework — useful for thinking about the whole house — but no one needs all of them at once. The most common entry points are Hermes (network), Ares (security), and Helios (lighting). Everything else can be added later, by design.

A single-domain retrofit (e.g., adding lighting control to an existing home) typically takes 3–7 days of on-site work. A full multi-domain new-construction install runs 4–8 weeks, scheduled around other trades. Every project gets a written timeline before work starts.

Three things. First: an actual engineer designs the system — not a sales rep. Second: we refuse to install anything that requires a perpetual cloud subscription to do basic functions. Third: you get a documented, owned system at the end. Most installers leave you with a network you don't understand and an app account you can't transfer. We don't.

Almost always. Where existing equipment fits the architecture, we keep it. Where it's actively limiting the system or no longer supported, we'll tell you honestly and explain the trade-offs. We don't replace working hardware just to bill for it.
